UK: This Is the Barbarian SVP II – Developed by Special Vehicle Projects

Just like McLaren which holds a hardcore division called McLaren Special Operations (MSO), Mitsubishi as well owns Special Vehicle Projects, which customizes special editions from the carmaker.

Recently, it has introduced in the United Kingdom a one-off model called Mitsubishi Triton Barbarian SVP II. The model will be built solely for this market and will comprise a 250 unit lot.

In the UK, the Barbarian SVP II is also known as L200, and represents the second model ever built by SVP. As we can depict from the media gallery below, it comes with off-road equipment and some striking colour paintjobs at the exterior.

The model has received LED daytime running lights, as well as bespoke SVP front grill and roof rails, along with flared wheel arches to make room for the 17-inch alloy wheels in black and orange and wrapped in BH Goodrich all-terrain tires.

Other features at the exterior also comprise orange elements, colour-coded bumper bars, shark fin-inspired side steps or SVP badging for the tailgate.

The interior welcomes customers with a ‘six-pack’ leather seats with suede Alston accents, orange features, SVP logos on the headrests, orange illuminated door sill plates and foot well mood lighting. As for technology, the model comes with the company`s Smart Link Display Audio media touch-screen, smartphone connectivity, rear-view camera or keyless entry and ignition.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Triton Barbarian SVP II features a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine with 133 kW, which is rather the same one found on the Australian variant. The power is sent to the wheels via a part-time “Super Select” four-wheel drive system which switches from rear to four-wheel drive while reaching speeds up to 100 km/h.

Rumors have it that the model might also be introduced in Australia, an important market with plenty of carmaker to display their latest utes. Stay tuned and don’t forget to share your opinions with us!
