Ford Performance Bundles Godzilla V8 and 10R80 Transmission into One Turnkey Package

Ford Performance has expanded its catalog with a new complete drivetrain package built around the company’s well-known Godzilla V8.

It is named M-9000-PM73BA and consists of a massive 7.3-liter engine with a 10R80 automatic gearbox, along with some components that are built especially for such large and powerful engines.

This package alone costs $18,500 and comes in four separate boxes, all weighing a combined 334 kilograms. Buyers receive more than an engine and transmission. Ford also includes the control pack for the Godzilla V8, a front-end accessory drive kit, the starter, and an index plate.

Before anyone starts planning a street-driven swap, there is an important restriction. Ford states the setup should not be installed in vehicles intended for public-road use. Under the Clean Air Act, selling components designed to bypass or defeat factory emissions systems on road-going vehicles violates federal regulations. Parts lacking a California Air Resources Board executive order number are identified for off-highway or competition use.

There are exceptions. Pre-emissions classic vehicles remain exempt from emissions testing requirements in many states, making such modifications legal in those applications. Some states also provide registration paths for specially constructed vehicles, including custom-chassis projects and replicas.

At the center of the package sits Ford’s 7.3-liter Godzilla crate engine. Purchased separately, the engine alone costs $9,790. Output stands at 430 horsepower and 485 pound-feet, or 658 Newton-meters, of torque. The design combines a cast-iron block with aluminum cylinder heads and uses a cam-in-block layout. Additional hardware includes cast-aluminum pistons, forged steel crankshaft, port fuel injectors, a composite intake manifold, an 87-millimeter throttle body, ignition coils and wires, factory lift brackets, and dual exhaust manifolds.

Some supporting pieces remain optional when ordered separately. The starter adds $275 to the standalone engine package. The FEAD kit costs $850 and contains an alternator, power-steering pump, idler pulley, drive belt, and installation hardware.

Ford also bundles the M-6017-73BA21 control pack. Along with the powertrain control module, buyers receive a Bullitt-style airbox and the loud pedal. The accompanying automatic transmission package follows the same specifications used by the 10R80 fitted to the 2021 through 2023 Ford Mustang. Mounting hardware, a shifter cable assembly, and a transmission cooler are included, though the shifter itself must be purchased separately.

Developed primarily by Ford in collaboration with General Motors, the 10R automatic replaced the older 6R family. Designed for rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive applications, the gearbox uses three overdrive ratios, four planetary gearsets, and real-time adaptive shift scheduling.

For builders seeking more, Ford points toward Megazilla 2.0. Introduced in January 2025, the blower-equipped evolution of the Godzilla platform generates more than 1,000 horsepower on premium-grade fuel.
