A new interpretation of the Mercedes G-Class has emerged from the Middle East, and this one goes much further than the typical roof-off conversion. Created by Venuum, the limited-edition Mastodon V4 transforms the familiar off-roader into an open-top machine while replacing almost every exterior panel in the process.
Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on a new G-Class Cabriolet, but Venuum has already presented its own answer. The company describes the project as a limited-edition model, although no production total has been announced. Pricing also remains undisclosed.

Many modified G-Class builds retain key visual cues from the factory vehicle. That is not the case here. Venuum appears to have redesigned nearly the entire exterior, leaving only the door skins untouched. The front end alone shows how extensive the work has been. A newly developed bumper incorporates large sections of exposed forged-carbon fiber. The grille differs from the standard design, the hood is unique, and perhaps the most noticeable change comes from the square headlights replacing the traditional round units associated with the G-Class.
The changes continue down the sides. Forged-carbon fiber wheel arch extensions and side skirts add extra visual drama, while a distinctive wheel design further separates the Mastodon V4 from its donor vehicle. In photographs, the wheelbase seems shorter than that of a standard G-Class, though the vehicle still retains four doors and the images do not confirm whether the appearance is genuine or simply a visual effect created by the redesign.
The rear section is where the conversion takes its biggest step. The roof has been removed behind the front seating area, creating an open-air layout for rear passengers. A black fabric section appears capable of extending over the rear compartment for weather protection, although no images have been released showing the covering in place. As a result, the exact operation of the system remains unclear.

Interior revisions match the exterior theme. Both front and rear seats feature a combination of yellow and black leather upholstery. Between the two rear seats sits a bespoke center console finished with forged-carbon fiber trim. The material appears throughout the project and serves as a recurring element across the entire build.

Whether enthusiasts embrace the square-headlight treatment is another question entirely. What is clear from the available images is that Venuum was not interested in a subtle update. The Mastodon V4 takes the G-Class in a completely different direction, replacing familiar styling details with a design language all its own while committing fully to the open-top concept.
