Honda Civic Type R by Liberty Walk Is an Insane Ride, Gets a Full Widebody Makeover

A new visual package from Liberty Walk has now landed on the latest Honda Civic Type R, and as expected, the result does not try to stay subtle. The Japanese tuner recently showed the finished car online through its founder, alongside a brief note saying the new body kit for the Honda Civic had finally arrived.

Unlike some of the company’s earlier headline-grabbing projects—one recent example being a modified Lamborghini Miura—this build starts from a front-wheel-drive hot hatch rather than an exotic platform. Even so, the treatment follows the same familiar Liberty Walk formula: exaggerated surfaces, visible width, and a shape that clearly aims to divide opinion rather than avoid attention.

The most obvious changes sit around the body itself. Both axles receive widened fender extensions, while new side skirt pieces connect the broader profile from front to rear. There is also additional trim on the front fenders, giving the side view more visual layering than the standard car already carries.

At the nose, the lower bumper gains an added spoiler, accompanied by small side flicks at each outer edge. The grille remains gloss black, framed by the red Honda badge and the Type R emblem beside it. Higher up, the hood appears to be replaced, and the mirror caps no longer look factory either.

Toward the rear, the modifications become even more pronounced. The rear pillars now have a new wide wing installed, with a deeper rear diffuser occupying the lower section of the bumper. Importantly, that diffuser still keeps the openings for the center-mounted exhaust layout intact, so the original triple-pipe arrangement remains visually acknowledged.

The car also rides extremely low—low enough to suggest adjustable air suspension is fitted underneath. That stance changes the character almost as much as the body kit itself, especially when combined with the wheel setup.

Interestingly, the wheels are relatively restrained compared with the body treatment. They use a five-spoke pattern, wear fresh Advan tires, and frame the red brake calipers behind them. White paint covers the body, the side glass is tinted, decals appear in several places, and the added parts are likely made from carbon fiber.

Not everyone will warm to this look, and Liberty Walk probably knows that already, especially since the Japanese tuner is well-known for its massive tuning kit, which might not appeal to all tuning fans.

This means that some buyers might see this project as a sharper expression of the Type R, while others might think it is too much.
